Italian lasagna

Lasagna is one of the most famous Italian dishes and is considered a complete meal that can be served as a main course. The methods of preparing lasagna and the ingredients used vary from region to region and from kitchen to kitchen, adding diversity to its flavors and ways of serving it

Ingredients

  • Lasagna 1 Kilogram of Lasagna
  • Ground meat 0.5 Kilogram of Ground meat
  • onion 1 Piece of onion
  • garlic 1 Tablespoon of garlic
  • milk 1 Liter of milk
  • Butter 3 Tablespoon of Butter
  • Flour 4 Tablespoon of Flour
  • tomato juice 2 Cup of tomato juice
  • olive oil 2 Tablespoon of olive oil
  • Mozzarella 1 Cup of Mozzarella
  • Salt 1 Tablespoon of Salt
  • Ground black pepper 1 Tablespoon of Ground black pepper
  • Cream cheese 1 Cup of Cream cheese

Instructions

    Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a pan, then add one large finely chopped onion and, optionally, small pieces of green pepper. Add one tablespoon of minced garlic and stir well. Add the minced meat and mix all the ingredients together, then season with salt, black pepper, dried basil, and dried thyme (optional). Let it cook for about 5 minutes

    After 5 minutes, add 2 cups of fresh tomato juice to the mixture. You can also add a tablespoon of tomato paste. Let it simmer on low heat until fully cooked

    For the béchamel sauce, melt about 3 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Then add 4 tablespoons of flour and stir them together. Let it cook until it becomes dark in color. Gradually add milk while stirring continuously without stopping until all the ingredients are well combined without lumps

    After that, add the cream cheese and season with salt and black pepper. If desired, you can also add chicken broth (optional). It's preferable for the consistency to be relatively light rather than thick

    In a square baking dish, add 2 tablespoons of béchamel sauce and spread it evenly. Then layer lasagna sheets to create one layer. Next, add a portion of the minced meat mixture and distribute it evenly. Add another layer of lasagna sheets, followed by a layer of béchamel sauce. Optionally, add cream cheese. Then add a final layer of lasagna sheets, followed by the remaining minced meat mixture and a layer of béchamel sauce. Finally, sprinkle a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese on top

    Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and place it in a preheated oven for an hour. After baking, let it rest for a few minutes, then cut it into square pieces and serve hot
