Gnocchi is a staple of traditional Italian cuisine and is widely popular worldwide. It can be prepared in various ways and served with a variety of sauces, including tomato sauce, pesto sauce, and cheese sauce. It's a delicious, filling, and quick meal option

Ingredients

  • potatoes 1 Kilogram of potatoes
  • Flour 1 Cup of Flour
  • egg 1 Piece of egg
  • Salt 1 Tablespoon of Salt
  • Ground black pepper 1 Teaspoon of Ground black pepper

    We wash the potatoes, then we boil them with their skins in salted water until they become completely tender (about 20-30 minutes depending on the size of the potatoes). After that, we drain them and let them cool slightly, then we peel and mash them until they are smooth and free of lumps

    In a large bowl, we put the mashed potatoes and add the egg, salt, and black pepper. Then, we start adding the flour gradually. We don't add too much flour to the dough until we get a soft, cohesive, and smooth dough

    We divide the dough into small pieces. Take each piece and roll it on a floured surface to form long ropes about 1 cm thick. Then cut the ropes into small pieces about 2 cm long. You can use a fork to gently press lines onto each gnocchi piece

    In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the gnocchi to the boiling water and let them cook until they float to the surface (about 2-3 minutes), then transfer them to a bowl

    You can serve the gnocchi with tomato sauce or pesto sauce. Heat the sauce in a pan, then add the gnocchi and gently toss until coated with the sauce, and serve hot
