Dawood Basha Kofta

Dawood Basha Kofta is a traditional dish from Eastern cuisine, especially in Turkey. This dish is characterized by minced meatballs cooked in a rich tomato sauce with spices. It is believed that its name dates back to the Ottoman era, where it was favored by the Pashas. It is usually served with rice or bread, and is considered a delicious and popular meal for everyone

Ingredients

  • Ground meat 0.5 Kilogram of Ground meat
  • onion 2 Piece of onion
  • garlic 1 Teaspoon of garlic
  • Parsley 0.25 Cup of Parsley
  • bread crumbs 0.5 Cup of bread crumbs
  • Tomato 3 Piece of Tomato
  • Tomato paste 2 Tablespoon of Tomato paste
  • Salt 1 Tablespoon of Salt
  • Ground black pepper 1 Tablespoon of Ground black pepper
  • Paprika 1 Teaspoon of Paprika
  • Ground cumin 1 Teaspoon of Ground cumin

Instructions

    In a large bowl, mix the ground meat with chopped onion, garlic, parsley, breadcrumbs, salt, black pepper, cumin, and paprika. Knead the mixture well until all the ingredients are well combined. Shape the mixture into small balls

    In a pan, heat a little oil over medium heat and brown the meatballs on all sides until they become golden. Set them aside

    In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent. Then add the garlic and sauté for an additional minute. Next, add the grated tomatoes and tomato paste, and mix well. Pour in 2 cups of hot water, and season with salt, black pepper to taste, and a teaspoon of sugar. Let it cook for 10 minutes. After that, add the fried meatballs and let it simmer on low heat for about 20 minutes until fully cooked and the flavors are absorbed
